October Favourites

October is over! I'm slightly heartbroken that my favourite month has come to an end. It's the turn of Autumn, my birthday, anniversary and Halloween! I mean could it really get any better! I've fallen more in love with Autumn this year - which I didn't think was even possible!

Berry Berry Christmas
In one of my (too) frequent trips to Lush, I picked up this bad boy. I actually went in looking for a new shower gel after running out of Happy Hippie, so it wasn't too much of a frivolous purchase. A festive cranberry infusion, with rejuvenating blueberry, uplifting sweet orange and bergamot oil, this leaves your skin feeling so refreshed. Similar to Plum Rain, this is slightly more fresh, reminding me of crisp winter mornings, the cold rising sun, and cosy socks in wellie boots. Perfect for this time of year, its also packed with green lustre - a wonderful Lush touch. I picked up the 550g and have used about a quarter, which is pretty good for every day for a month.

Applique Jumper
I'll be honest... I'm not a jumper gal. I'm just too warm-blooded; I always get hot and bothered and end up regretting my choice of outfit. This year I have felt the cold a lot more. I'm not sure whether its age or a different location but I've been bloody freezing. I saw this cute little number and couldn't resist. The applique quote on the back reads "Get off my back" in a wonderful Russian red. If you've not watched/heard it there is a brilliant song with the same name by Bryan Adams from the soundtrack of Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron - a firm-favourite-film! They're obviously not actually related, but that song is so powerful and dominant, it makes me feel the same. I just had to get it, didn't I?

'the sun and her flowers' by Rupi Kaur
Kaur's debut collection, Milk & Honey, came out in 2014 and has since sold over 1.4 million copies. A wonderfully 25yo woman, she took the literary world by storm, writing on subjects such as love, sex, rejection, relationships, abuse, beauty standards and racism. A lot of hard-ass traditional poetry-lovers have criticised her for her 'over-simplistic' and 'erratic' style. But this is why I love her and was desperate to pick up her second collection which came out at the start of October. It's just important to remember that all art is subjective. Despite your views on her work, there is no denying that she had inspired people across the world; influencing a wave of new poets. And that's pretty cool.

Instax Mini 9
A wonderful birthday gift from Mike, I haven't been able to put this down. There is something quintessentially raw and organic about a Polaroid camera. No filters, lights or re-takes. It does make me sad that there is only one copy of the photograph, but I guess that makes it all the more precious. The film is expensive, especially when you're snap-happy like me. But if you love photography/scrapbooking, etc, then I think it is a wonderful investment.

The Hoosiers - 10th Anniversary Tour
Last month I also got to see The Hoosiers live for their 10th anniversary tour. It was a brilliant night and they were great live. Afterwards, we had a lovely chat with them and I picked up one of the limited edition vinyls which they kindly signed. Great night with great people.

Hufflepuff Scarf
If you have been here a while then you will know that I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and at the start of the year I subscribed to the 'Wizarding World' Loot Crate. Despite being a bit on the pricey side, they're filled with great items - most of which are exclusives to the subscription. Tailored to your house, the last delivery included a Hufflepuff scarf! Different to the general ones sold online and in stores, it has been my saving grace as the cold weather has descended.
