Bath Staycation || Top Spots For The Perfect Feel-Good Weekend

At the start of the month, I had the absolute pleasure of being invited for a little staycation in my own city with Visit Bath. I had a wonderful couple of days fully immersing myself in the wonder of Bath, and making the most of all it had to offer.

Bath has been my home for nearly three years, and permanently since Mike and I moved down into our house in June and said goodbye to Manchester. I'd like to think I know the city pretty well, but how often do we really just get to enjoy the pleasures of where we live?

It is one of the most beautiful cities in the UK, home to some iconic landmarks, delicious restaurants and cafés, and a bubble of independent shops and boutiques! It is a stunning spot of a staycation at all times of the year, with something for everyone. I have been in love with this city since the moment I first arrived and thought I'd pick out some of my favourite places that you have to check out!

BRUNCH

Sweet Little Things

It's definitely not 'style over substance' with this cute breakfast spot! Perhaps one of the most instagrammable places in Bath, it boasts a really lovely menu with sweet and savoury options. I went for some delicious banana pancakes and a chai latte, but just keep going back to sample more of the menu! It has brilliant options, catering for all dietary requirements, and hosts the most perfect afternoon tea. It's lovely as a date spot, catch up with the gals or for the whole family! Not to mention, you can hire this place out for the perfect hen-do brunch!

STAY

Bath Boutique Stays

Located in the Spa Quarter of the city, luxury holiday house with Bath Boutique Stays. 1 Hot Bath Street is right in the centre of the city, only footsteps away from this historic Roman Baths. This four-storey Georgian townhouse is elegant and offers ample space for families, hen parties and larger groups visiting the city.

VISIT

Toppings & Co.

Perhaps my favourite place in Bath, Toppings and Company is the dreamiest of bookshops. Like you've just stepped into Beauty and the Beast, Toppings is a must to tick off. Relax with tea and biscuits and you peruse shelves and shelves of stories just waiting to be read! Books play a huge part in my self-care, and this is the perfect chance to have a quiet moment and pick up a new title for your trip.

EXPLORE

The Roman Baths

This was the first touristy thing I ever did when I first visited Bath many years ago. It remains one of my favourite things to do still. The Roman Baths attract over one million visitors a year and give this beautiful city its name. Still flowing with the natural hot spring, visitors can explore the Roman Baths, walk on the original Roman pavements and see the ruins of the Temple of Sulis Minerva. The museum is wonderful for all ages, and sometimes I will just enjoy sitting on the terrace overlooking the pool on my lunch break!

DINNER

Bandook Kitchen

If you're after good food, this is the spot! Newly opened, Bandook Kitchen is flavoursome modern Indian street-food dining! With a thriving restaurant already in Bristol, the Bath store offers a relaxed yet sophisticated experience in the hidden gem of Milsom Place. This too caters for dietary requirements wonderfully and have cocktails to die for! My particular favourite dishes were; Pani Puri, Patiala Baigan, Edamame Bean Makai (all vegan).

EXPERIENCE

The Soul Spa

Situated in the Spa Quarter, The Soul Spa is a dedicated space for meditation and mind-body therapies. I attended a Sound Bath Meditation session, in which the vibration of the singing bowls is used to guide your body into a meditative, restorative and healing state. It was truly the most wonderful experience, and I felt at such peace and harmony stepping out. It quietened my worried thoughts and I would recommend it to everyone! They hold a range of individual and group sessions for you to improve your mental wellbeing. I think this would be perfect as a solo venture or with a group of you.

YOU MUSN'T FORGET...

Museums

Bath has a range of wonderful museums and art galleries! With exhibitions always on and perfect for all the family, you're bound to love The Holbourne Museum, The Fashion Museum, and No.1 Royal Crescent.

Historic Landmarks

The Roman Baths are not the only landmark worth visiting whilst here! Bath is host to a beautiful cathedral, gardens and the famous Royal Crescent.

Wellness

Bath has been the No. 1 destination in the UK for wellness since the Romans constructed their baths here in 70. A.D. The natural thermal springs underneath the city produce 1,170,000 litres of spring water every day. Thermae Bath Spa, the only place in the UK where you can bathe in the water, opened in 2006. Visitors can view Bath’s magnificent skyline from the open-air rooftop pool and feel rejuvenated in the waters. Other places, like Good Body Wellness, one of the UK’s first natural, traceable and tested CBD retailers, give you the opportunity to use our trip to revitalise your body and mind.

But Bath truly has so much to offer! With its stunning sandstone Georgian buildings, quaint cobbled streets and hidden gems dotted all around, it's perfect for a day trip, a weekend away, or even longer. Extending your trip gives you the chance to visit some of Bath's neighbours and explore more of Somerset. Frome is host to one of the country's most wonderful independent markets each month, and the beautiful stores of St Catherine's Hill. Wells has a  magnificent cathedral and the unique moated Bishop's Palace.

I'd love to know what your favourite spots in Bath are! What makes the perfect staycation for you?

All my love,
